Ways to train, from small groups to one to one.
There is a gap in the middle of ordinary life, and most people only notice it once they are standing in it. Therapy ends. The gym was never built for you. And the thing you are actually worried about, staying sharp, is not something either of them was set up to train.
So what was built instead is a studio for adults 55 and over where staying mentally sharp and physically capable is the entire point, not an afterthought bolted onto a programme designed for somebody thirty years younger. Nobody is asked to keep up.
The word that will not come. The room you walked into for a reason you can no longer name.
It shrinks the day quietly. The walk gets shorter, the ladder stays in the garage, the trip gets postponed.
Therapy ends while you are still improving, and there is no obvious next thing that carries on.
Often the real reason someone books a first visit, and rarely the reason they give.
Caregivers turn up too, usually having put themselves last for a long time. They are welcome here on their own account, not as somebody's companion.
Marbles combines functional fitness with dual-task brain training, challenging members to move while thinking, reacting and making decisions, just as real life demands. Balance, coordination, strength and cognitive engagement are worked at the same time rather than in turn. That overlap is the point: it is what builds neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to adapt and form new connections.
Every Marbles studio runs the same method. This is the studio it was worked out in, which changes a few things for the people who train here.
Dual-task training was not bought in from somewhere else. It was worked out here, session by session, with members like the ones training here today.
Operators opening a Marbles elsewhere begin at this address. The franchise and the studio share a floor, which is unusual and deliberate.
There are no mirrors to avoid and no leaderboard to come last on. Most members arrive having not exercised in a while and say so on the way in. It is the ordinary case here, not the awkward exception.
Nobody is measured against the person next to them. The comparison that matters is with yourself last month.
Standing up from the floor unaided is a bigger day than a heavier weight, and it is treated that way.
Limitations are assumed rather than accommodated, so arriving with one is not an awkward conversation.
The portrait, the words and the credit line above are placeholders. Marbles names nobody on its own site, so we have not chosen a name on the client’s behalf. Send us the founder’s photograph, a sentence or two in their own words, and how they should be credited, and this section is finished.
The tour and the first workout are complimentary. Nothing to bring, nothing to pay, and no commitment afterwards.
